This gorgeous oak winder staircase was manufactured for a property in Cornwall and has been specifically designed to capitalise on the bountiful natural light pouring down on to the staircase from the sky lights above. The oak & glass combination works especially well in bright spaces as the glass allows the light to flow freely through the room, brightening the attractive colours and textures of the oak.

In this instance the client went for simplistic square newels and handrails. This may seem basic but the beauty of oak is that it does not need a complex or ornate shape to look good, the natural qualities of the oak sing on their own and are the most significant aesthetic aspect of this staircase.

Keeping the design clean and minimalist, the customer has decided on grooved baserails and handrails instead of using clamps for the glass. The groove lets the glass panels seamlessly fit into the balustrade design, whereas a clamped glass panel would have a busier look to it, adding visible metal components to the design.
