Artist steps up to finish in top four
Our talented creative artist Clare Harper enjoyed a grand lunch and riverboat cruise on the Thames when she attended the national Print, Design and Marketing Awards ceremony in London recently. Clare had been shortlisted in the Wide and Super-Wide Format category for her superb lorry curtain designs which she created for our new delivery vehicles. |

Tasked with the job of producing an eye-catching livery for the fleet, Clare conjured up a variety of surreal designs giving an imaginative pear-shaped twist to a range of iconic paintings, including MC Escher’s Relativity with its never-ending staircase, Edvard Munch's The Scream, Damien Hirst’s A Pear Divided and Salvador Dali’s famous melting clocks (or pears). Even Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring couldn't escape the pear-themed makeover Full tribute is also paid to Heironymous Bosch (right), with pears pictured cavorting in the Garden of Earthly Delights before receiving their just desserts down below. |

The designs were transferred onto vinyl lorry curtains by specialist firm Structure-flex Ltd, which was also shortlisted for the award. Although in the end Clare was narrowly pipped to the post by another entrant, her unique artworks were highly commended by the panel of judges and she was congratulated on making the top four of this prestigious competition. Clare said afterwards: "Whilst cruising past the great, iconic landmarks of London enjoying a particularly lavish lunch aboard the Silver Sturgeon, it surprised me to learn so many new and interesting facts about the world of marketing and print. Although it’s slightly disappointing not to have come first, it was an honour to be shortlisted and I have come back to work with renewed energy and lots of fresh ideas."
