The dog-leg staircase made from idigbo - a yellow/brown hardwood from west Africa - is free-standing, so we supplied the newel posts to the floor to provide support. Thicker, 28mm treads were used, along with stop-chamfered spindles and posts with flat newel caps.

We wanted an oak staircase but the oak option was too expensive, so we decided to go with the idigbo, as this was very similar to the oak and we wanted the stairs to be in keeping with the church. Pear Stairs are very good and we are very pleased with the staircase."
