Make a Space Feel Bigger; Glass Panel Balustrades & White Primed Staircase

Glass Panels & Walls with White Primed Stair Parts Accentuate Space

The combination of white primed stair parts and glass panels creates a light and crisp aesthetic in a space. Extensive use of glass in this large contemporary design keeps the hallways of this domestic property bright and airy, well illuminated by natural light.

Encased in Glass; Under-Stairs Space

The unusual aspects of this design are the glass panel walls underneath the ground floor to first floor flight. The space created by these walls has been enclosed by a glass door and the client intends to utilise it as an unconventional wine cellar. While far from a standard design, this glass-cabinet-like form prevents the staircase from being a solidly opaque object within the room. The use of glass creates reflections and minimises shadows, making the property feel much more spacious.

A Bright Design Accentuates Space

The staircase extends up through the property with return balustrades that entirely encase the stairwell and connect to the flight directly above, leading to the second floor. Much like on the ground floor, this extensive use of glass capitalises on the space making it feel luxuriously roomy. The glass itself is held in place by clamps with a stainless-steel finish. This combination of smooth textures from the metal, glass and white primed stair parts creates a very neat and modern profile. This profile complements the property that has a monochromatic style to it.

The staircase design itself features stop chamfered newel posts with pyramid newel caps. The stairs have been carpeted by the client except for the feature D-end step at the bottom of the ground floor flight that has a white primed finish to match the balustrade.
